Emergency treatment

In case of an emergency during the practice hours, please contact the practice immediately. We will always endeavour to see a patient on the same day.

For emergencies outside practice hours, please ring the practice telephone number for information on current arrangements.

Failed appointment policy

Every year we lose valuable surgery time because of patients failing to attend their appointments, or cancelling at short notice. This makes it more difficult for us to accommodate our patients in need of urgent treatment, for existing patients to book appointments and for new patients to register here. It also cost the surgery a considerable amount of money.

NHS Patients

Under NHS regulations, we are unable to charge NHS patients who fail to attend for their appointments or who cancel at short notice (less than 24 hours notice is insufficient notice). A patient who fails to attend their appointment or cancels at short notice, will be sent a letter, warning them that they will lose their NHS entitlement here, if they fail to attend or cancel at short notice again within a 12 month period. In the event that a further appointment is missed or cancelled at short notice within this 12 month period, we will withdraw the offer of NHS treatment at this practice. Should they wish to remain a patient here, they will need to register here on a private basis.

Discretion may be used if there is a good reason for the appointment being missed.

As with all medical facilities, we aim to see our patients on time but due to the nature of health care, this is not always possible. However, if a patient turns up late for their appointment so that treatment cannot be carried out, this will be regarded as failing to attend.

Private Patients and NHS Patients Attending Appointments for Private Treatment

To cover the surgery running costs a charge of £1 per minute will be made for private treatment appointments that have been missed or cancelled at short notice. (For example, a missed 30 minute appointment will incur a charge of £30.)

This policy does not affect your ability to seek NHS care at another NHS practice.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Thank you for your understanding whilst the practice has been closed owing to measures to protect both staff and patients during the COVID-19 pandemic

As you may have heard, the Prime Minister has advised that dental practices can reopen from 8th June 2020.

While this is welcomed news, it comes with a range of requirements, not all of which are yet fully defined, to make sure we are able to treat patients in a way that ensures the health and safety of all concerned. This will include enhanced personal protective measures and operating at a reduced capacity, thus as a consequence we will be seeing fewer patients per day.

Please be assured that the safety of our staff and patients is of paramount importance to us. We have always been focused on infection control, and in addition to what we have always done, we are augmenting our protocols to ensure our response to COVID-19 is both comprehensive and meticulous.

Initially we will be prioritising emergency/urgent care for patients who have contacted us needing help while we have been closed and we will be in contact with them over the coming weeks.

We will be contacting patients individually to arrange appointments where appropriate at this phase of the pandemic. There will be no “walk-in” appointment requests. Patients will only be seen with prior arrangement over the telephone.

As soon as we move to providing more routine care, we will let you know.

We really appreciate you bearing with us at this very difficult time.

If you require any dental advice or information, or feel you have a dental emergency please call or email us and we can arrange a telephone consultation.
